Goldcrests, Firecrests and Wrens

The Goldcrest is the smallest bird in the UK (~8cm long) and the Firecrest (~9cm long) almost matching it for size!Hard to spot and very fast moving in the brambles of the Wildlife Garden area! These are smaller than the humble Wren which itself is the 3rd smallest bird in the UK!

Below are some samples of the various species that I have seen on my visits to the centre throughout the years. These are but a few examples of what is on offer during a visit to the centre and its many lakes and pond areas!

The Wetlands also offer a facebook page for visitors to join so that they can discuss and share photos of their visits to the centre which I am placing a link for below.

The Dalmatian Pelican!

1 of 4 at the centre. They regularly can be seen exercising their wings and can, on occasion, be seen to take to short flights around their pond to the delight of the children and adults alike that get to witness the sheer size of these birds with their massive 3m wingspan!
